Today is My One Year Blogaversary!

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 1 year since I started this blog. Although in the beginning I was skeptical about posting things I’ve made or things I’ve done on the internet, it’s turned out to be quite fun. It’s very interesting to see where people are from that stop by to check things out.  So to say thanks to those that do stop in and make that counter climb higher, I am going to give away some blog candy! Since I have never done this before I hope that I follow all of the blog candy etiquette. Please forgive me if I miss something.

Just leave a comment, any comment will be fine, if you can’t think of anything make something up. The blog candy includes Stampin’ Up!’s retired hostess stamp set Spring Solitude and matching wheel Solitude, Love & Happiness Rub-Ons,  an adhesive eraser, and a 27 piece assortment of brads and hardware. Everything is Stampin’ Up! I just love Stampin’ Up!

Please leave your comments by Tuesday, February 3 before Noon Central Time. I’ll post the winner on Wednesday.

Again thanks to everyone that has stopped by to check things out! Especially those of you that keep coming back because you never know what you are going to see. Anything from cards to carrots and whatever comes between.

Good Luck to those of you that leave a comment! Thanks for stopping by!

Penguins in Disguise

These are the penguins I told you about in the last post. We made the skunk last year and the bee this year. After the Christmas holidays my son’s class has a black and white unit. They learn about penguins, food thats black and white and the colors black and white and all sorts of other things. Last year wasn’t too bad when it came to decorating the skunk. My son really didn’t understand what I was doing. He was just excited to take it to school. But this year when he brought the bowling pin home, he told me he did not want to decorate it. He wanted it to be a bowling pin. So how did I get him to agree to the bee. Well, it wasn’t easy. Since my son was very little a lot of his speech has come from the cartoons he watches. He can watch a 30 minute cartoon and then act it out doing ALL of the characters and ALL of the lines. Just from watching it one time. I would just like to be able to remember where I put my glasses. And no they are not on my head…this time.

So using my quick thinking I decided that this bowling pin was going to be Austin, the Master of Disguise. For those of you that do not know Austin. He is one of The Backyardigans. And The Master of Disguise is one of my sons favorite Backyardigans episodes. So I proceeded to name disguises that I thought I could make and we decided on the bee. Why the bee? Well, we have a honeycomb on our roof and part of it fell on the ground. My son saw it the other day and decided he wanted to be a bee and make a honeycomb, too. So he was happy with the bee. Until it had to go to school but thats a whole other story.

Now I do want to point out that I used Stampin’ Up! supplies (card stock, ribbon and punches) on these lovely creatures. So as you can see Stampin’ Up! products are very versatile. They can be used for quite a few things!

What’s Up, Doc?

Are these great or what? I know it’s not a paper craft but it’s one of the many other things that I do. My husband and son pulled these up yesterday. And they were yummy, too. This is the first time we have planted carrots. So my son was really excited to see them after planting them what must seem to him a long time ago.

I know it’s been a few days since I posted. Just so you know I have not fallen off of the procrastination wagon. I have been busy working on a family project for my little guy’s class. The last two years we have had to make a penguin project. Our wonderful angel teacher sends home a "boring" penguin (bowling pin) and we as a family have to decorate him as we see fit. We finished our penguin today and I am going to take pictures of him in just a few minutes. My camera battery is dead again. Why me? I would ask myself that question but I already know the answer so no need.

So check back later for the pics of our penguins. I’m also making some Valentines Day cards and treats, so hopefully I’ll get them posted soon!

And don’t forget to check out the new Stampin’ Up! catalog! It’s got a lot of great new things!

Why Are Big Boy Birthdays So Hard?

My stepson is not a little boy anymore but he is still only eleven years old. So I find it hard transitioning from little kid to not so little kid cards. Anyway this is what I made for his birthday. But as you can tell it is not strictly Stampin’ Up! He liked it so I guess that’s all that counts. I got the inspiration from the October issue of Cards page 20. Thanks Lea Lawson.I know my choice of colors was a bit odd but the color scheme matched the chipboard and I just didn’t want the card to be dark. It was a birthday card!

Stamp Sets: Birthday Whimsy, Think Big (both retired)

Inks: Baja Breeze, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip

Papers: Baja Breeze, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White and Outlaw DSP (ret)

Accessories: Photo Corners Punch, copper brads (retired), cutter kit, paper piercing tool, sponges, Earth Elements Buttons, linen threads, large copper brads (unknown),Static Chipboard from Crate Paper and ribbon from Basic Grey Hang 10

I also made him a cake.

The skulls on the cake were traced from the skull in Just Jawing. I just changed the eyes from hearts to circles.

Then I had to make a secondary cake for my little guy. He doesn’t do real well at birthday parties or anything thing that has a lot of people. He gets really upset when the birthday person blows out the candles. Not sure why but he does. It usually turns into a full blown meltdown so we have found a second cake or cupcake with a candle in it distracts him and no problem. So with all of the pieces and icing left I made this cake. Don’t laugh. It was just leftovers and gel writing tubes. I do not like those things. I guess you have to be a cake decorating expert to use them. Anyway my little guy was so excited he had his own cake.

I hope you found something interesting or just plain amusing in this post!

Baby Shower Card No. 2

Well this is my punishment for sort of procrastinating maybe just a little bit. The photo turned out sorry! I had very little time to make this card this morning. Yes I waited until this morning. So I was in a big hurry to get a picture before I had to leave for the shower. And it was very cloudy and gray outside and inside. So I ended up taking a picture of the card laying in the window sill and hoping for the best. I know I said I was going to work on this but….Sorry!

The card looked soooooo much better than this photo.

But let me tell you I just LOVE my new Nestabilities. They are just too cool. Now I have to decide how I am going to store them because they are just stuck to the card they come on. I have seen lots of neat ideas but I’m not sure which one is going to work best from me. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from you! I need all the help I can get.

Now I have to go make something so I can use my new pens. I guess I need to check my calendar and see who is coming up on the birthday list. I did just get Stampin’ Up!’s Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set. Maybe I’ll make something with it or maybe the Sock Monkey. He has been sitting in my stamp room all alone doing nothing. Well he’s not really alone. He probably has…no I’m not going to say how many friends he has in there. I don’t think I want to face that right now.

I hope you liked the baby card.

Baby Shower Card

Ok here is the first Baby Shower card I made. And I did not have a whole lot of time to make it either. I know most of you will think it was due to procrastination but it was not. I promise. Although I guess I could have started a little sooner….

Yesterday I had my #18 molar removed. Ouch! When I called Thursday to make sure everything was scheduled and ask if I needed to do anything special, they asked if I wanted anesthesia? Now tell me what kind of ridiculous question is that? All I could say was I think…YES! What did they think I was going to say No just yank it out and listen to me scream.

Anyway, after It was removed, I came home and rested. I couldn’t really get any mojo going with that new whole in my head.  So I found a sketch (Sketch #98) on CPS that I wanted to use and cut the paper but I did not finish it until this morning.

Yes, I used my new Nestabilities to make the ovals. And I give them a big thumbs up! Since this was the first time I used them, I wasn’t quite sure which sizes I really wanted so this is what I ended up with. I was kind of tight on time so I couldn’t do much experimenting. But I think they look OK.

I should have the second one tomorrow.

Upsy Daisy

This is a card I made for a home workshop. I CASE’d it from the Stampin’ Up! Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book and Catalog. See page 101. I made the card late the night before the workshop. That was before I stopped procrastinating. The card was really simple and I knew they all would love doing the embossing so away I go to the workshop. So we are making cards and we get to this one and I put my sample (this exact card) on the little gold thing you see in the picture and as I set it down I look at the left side of the card and see the smudges where I moved the stamp when I was making the card. I thought I was going to die. My face must of turned red because they asked what was wrong. So I told them. They consoled me by telling me that it was fine and that you really can’t tell. Yeah, right. I’m supposed the be teaching them how to stamp and they are telling me my sloppy card looks great. So much for being professional.

But that’s not the important thing. What’s going on with the eyes is what I’m worrying about. My teeth are falling out (OK being pulled out) are my eyeballs gonna fall out next? Well I am sitting here looking at my computer screen through a pair of glasses, the kind you get at Target or Walgreen’s. The eye doctor told me a couple of years ago that my eyes were fine they were just getting old. He sent me to the store to get the glasses. By the way I’m looking for a new eye doctor. Not because he sent me to the store to get glasses but because I think he said I was old.

It’s Not Nice To Brag…

I know it’s not nice to brag. I know I shouldn’t do it but I’m so excited I can’t stand it! It’s like Christmas all over again! Ok. Guess what I’m doing. Ok, don’t. You would never guess anyway. I am opening up…are you ready…16 new Glaze pens…13 new atyou Spica pens…the Best Value Complete Classic Shapes Nestabilities Dies AND a box of brand new Stampin’ Up! sneak peak stamp sets and DSPs. Am I excited or what? How did I get all of that you ask? Well I just asked my wonderful, generous, great, terrific, wonderful…I think I already said that, magnificent husband if I could have them.  I just said, "Can I buy the Best Value Complete Classic Shapes Nestabilities Dies? They are on sale at Ellen Hutson, LLC  because of end of year inventory reductions." And he said yes. Just like that. Like he knew what I was talking about. So I ran…really fast….to the computer and ordered them before he could ask what they were or change his mind. I just added the atyou Spica markers because they were on sale too. The Glaze pens came from my local Hobby Lobby. And the box of lovely Stampin’ Up! stamps, I got those because I HAD to. I just had to. They are new and nobody has them yet but demonstrators so I had to get them. OK. I just wanted them.  Alright, I’ll stop. I know I should have better self control than that but…but…I guess I’m just weak. Sorry. I’ll work on it.

I don’t have very many things that are not Stampin’ Up! but I just couldn’t resist the pull of the Nestabilities after getting my Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Die Cut machine and seeing so many wonderful cards made using them. So I caved in.

Since I just opened them, I don’t have anything made using them. Maybe I’ll use them to make those baby shower cards I need to make. No, I haven’t  even started them yet and I need one Saturday and one Sunday. I better get busy. I can’t procrastinate. That would be against one of my resolutions. Also if I procrastinate I won’t get them done because I am going to have a tooth extracted Friday morning. Ooh, yuck. And I may feel like…yucky. One of my very back teeth cracked apart some years ago and I had to have a root canal and a crown. But the tooth was so small a crown never would stay. So after three crowns, I’m going to have it pulled and an implant put in. Hopefully that will be the end of my teeth problems but my dentist told me the one in front of it might end up with problems. All the rest of my teeth are great but I grind my teeth on that side. It’s all that trying to resist temptation that makes me grind my teeth.

Well, I won’t bore you anymore. I’ve got laundry, laundry, and more laundry to do and cards to make. Does anyone want to do laundry? No. OK.

Check back soon to see my baby shower cards.  Thanks for stopping by!

More Flower Power

OK The very first thing I want to do is apologize for the horrible lighting on these cards. I tried to fix it I just didn’t know how. Everything I did made things worse. I promise to work on this issue.

Cross my heart!

There is not really a lot to say about these two cards because I just plain copied them.  I followed the directions on the sheet that came with Simply Sent Card Elements Kit. Now how easy is that. Well I did add a little bling to the top card. I added a brad from the Filigree Assortment and a crystal from my stash.  And the sentiment on both cards is from Birthday Whimsy. I use that Happy Birthday stamp a lot. I like it.

And that is it! You should try it. The kits are fabulously easy. You can find the Flower Power Card Elements Kit on page 176 of the 2008 Fall-Winter Idea Book and Catalog.

From The Toy Box

The idea for this card came from page 79 of the Spring-Summer 2008 Catalog. Yes, that catalog was current when I made this card. Hey, I’m catching up. I’ve posted every day since the 1st. Now I’m not sure how long I can keep this up. Did I say that out loud? What I meant to say was I don’t know how many cards I have left to post. I’ll have to make some new ones. As a matter of fact, I do need to make some new ones. I have two baby showers to go to this weekend. I think I better get busy.

Thanks for stopping by!
