Ahoy, Matey! Pirates Have Birthdays, Too
I had fun making this card. I used some stuff that hasn’t been used in awhile. One of the first Stampin’ Up! products I bought was the Watercolor Pencils. My upline showed them at a workshop and I thought they were the coolest thing. I’ve used them a lot just not lately. All of the color on the card is watercolor pencils. The first thing I did was roll out the map with the Matey’s Map wheel in basic black ink, then I picked the part of it I wanted to be on the card and trimmed it. I colored it with the pencils and I used a blender pen to soften the color. I distressed 3 of the edges. The left edge is smooth. I placed it on the card, sewed the left edge and put the linen thread on the other edges using the paper piercer to make the holes.
Next, I stamped the ship in basic black ink and colored it using the same technique as the map. I distressed the edges and attached it to the really rust card stock. Those edges are distressed, too. I attached it to the card and put the brads on the right edge.
Then I stamped the Ahoy, Matey and the X with Versa Mark and embossed it with gold embossing powder. When your embossing, don’t forget to use your embossing buddy BEFORE you stamp your image. It keeps all of the extra unwanted powder from sticking. It’s amazing!
And thar ya have it!
OK not funny!
Anyway, even though the card seems a bit involved, it really was easy. Believe me, I made this one AFTER the Prehistoric Pals card. So I was in a hurry. And it didn’t take long.
Now the girlie cards are in the works. I only have a few days to make them. I am going on vacation Tuesday and I have to take them with me so I have to finish them AND take pictures of them before I go.
Thanks so much! More later!

Prehistoric Pals

You will have to forgive my photography. My card wasn’t really crooked. I was in such a hurry after I finished this card that I almost forgot to take a picture of it. Since I am the procrastinator of the year, I ran out of time to come up with my own idea so I turned to my trusty catalog. The idea for this card came from page 71 of the Spring-Summer 2008 catalog. This stamp set won’t be retiring either so you can still get it when the new catalog comes out. Yeah! This is one of the stamps sets I want to use for scrapbooking. I hope you like it!

Summer At My House!
Well I don’t have any cards to post. I’ve been doing so many other things this last week that I haven’t made anything. I have some birthdays coming up so I WILL be making cards. I even have some girl birthdays, yeah! I always seem to be making boy cards. So I’m kind of excited.
Now for a topic that has nothing to do with making cards. I made some mozzarella cheese yesterday! It was too cool. It came out OK, too. My husband and kids really liked it. I don’t think it was the best mozzarella I’ve ever eaten but it was good. I’m going to try my hand at some other kinds of cheeses, too. What made me decide to make cheese, well I was reading my husband’s " Mother Earth News" magazine, and there was an article about making cheese. So I did. We decided it would go good with the wine that my husband makes. Now his wine is really good! He has been making beer and wine for a while and he has gotten really good at it.
Hopefully this small bit of information distracted you for a minute from the fact I didn’t post anything creative but I will soon.
As for the sunflower, isn’t it beautiful. My husband and son planted them in a flowerbed at the road by our mailbox. I just had to take a picture of the first bloom. I tried to get my son to stand next to the flower but the grass around the bed was too tall for his liking and that was as close as he was going to get. But I did get a big CHEESE, well sort of, he squints his eyes more than he smiles.

Happy 4th of July!!!
I hope everyone has a great July 4th planned. I know of some people that have had great struggles recently and I pray this is a time that maybe they can relax for a bit.
I made this card from some scraps I had left from a July 4th card a few years back. Yes, recycling again. I am trying to clean out scraps but I am also trying to awaken the creative creature inside. Hello, hello, anybody there? OK not awake yet. Well, I’ll keep trying.
