Look Here Card

This was a super duper easy card.

I created this from a sample out of last years Stampin' Up! Catalog. At the time it was NOT last years catalog. But now that it has become old news I won't bother you with all of the out dated details. But I will tell you that you can still get the Look Here Die that I used to make the inside of the card! And I love this die. It makes giving gift cards a whole lot more fun.
So, you might be wondering where I have been and what I have been doing, since I have not made any posts lately. Ok so you're not wondering any of that. That's okay, I'll tell you anyway. In a post from December I told everyone to check back to see what I was so excited about. Then I never posted anything. So many things happened after that post that my enthusiasm just kind of faded. My son got really sick and was in the hospital. (He's well now!) We went on a wonderful Spring Break vacation and then school started winding down. Then it was summer and that brought a whole bunch of new priorities but I am going to get the ball rolling again!
Soooooooo, here are a few pics of what I am so excited about. A little late, okay a lot late. But here they are.
Can you believe it? My own craft building! It is going to be amazing. Right now it is not much further along than what you see in the last pic but work will be starting up again soon! And I am so excited. I can't wait!
Even though it's not finished I've put my stuff in it and can go out and work in it. And yes I've been making cards. So I will be posting some of them soon.
And if you are interested in purchasing the Look Here Die I used for the card in this post give me a call or email me and I can have it sent to your house before you know it.
Thanks for stopping by and checking on me!
Thinking of You

Wow, it’s been forever since I’ve been able to sit down to make a real post. But I have been so busy. Sadly, my stamping has taken the back seat. But hopefully all that will soon be in the past. Good things are in the works. I have found that October, November and December are the busiest times of the year for me. This year I was not able to "do" Halloween like we usually do. Everyone was disappointed but in the end it was OK. Instead I worked to raise money for our school’s drug program. It was very successful. So I was proud.
I think this has been the period in my life that you have to stop look around and reassess everything. That being done. The future looks good. I have so many things to talk about, I’m not sure where to start so I’ll just jump in.
In September a dear sweet girl I know from my son’s school lost her dad. It was so unexpected and heartbreaking for this young family. Times like this can make you feel so helpless.
Remember to tell your loved ones that you love them everyday.
I made this card for them hoping that it would say that I care. You would be surprised how it makes people feel when you take the time to make something just for them. I always say I’m going to make up cards ahead of time so I’ll be ready for any occasion but being the procrastinator that I am, I haven’t. But the up side of that is when I make my cards they are for a specific person and they know it.
The idea for this card came out of the Stampin’ Up! catalog page 171. The supply list is below.
Check back soon to see what I’ve been so excited about these days!

Easter Hats
OK, I know I am a bad blogger, but man, oh, man have I been busy. And sadly enough it has not been on cards or scrapbooks.
I don’t know what’s going on but normally when Spring rolls around, I’m able to get things rolling but not this year. I just can’t beat the blahs. Maybe it’s because I just had another birthday or maybe it’s because my son had toe surgery this week or maybe it’s…..whatever….all this sounds like a bunch of whining and complaining to me.
I’m beginning to think I have ADHD. Bouncing from here to there. So since, I think I might have ADHD, I’ll just move on to a new topic without finishing the first one….
Here’s one of the Easter hats I made. It’s actually the first one I made and it just happened to belong to my sweet boy.

He was trying to make sure I was taking the picture.

And this is a picture of his friend’s Easter hat. Her mom made her’s, too.

We made so many hats and I have so many pictures but I was having camera difficulties on the day of the parade. So some of my pictures were taken with my cell phone and some of the pictures were bad and some of the ones that came out really good have beautiful little faces under them and I do not have permission to use them so I will have to just use these. Anyway, you get the idea. We had to make about 350 of these beautiful creations. Now, I did not do this by myself, of course. Lots of moms and I think some teachers worked on this project along with each child. I met some really beautiful and interesting little souls working on these hats. Some of them can really make you laugh.
Well, this is where I would jump to another topic if I had ADHD but I haven’t completely convinced myself that’s what I really have so I’ll just stop here for now. What I have been told is you get the same type of symptons when you get old. But I’m not quite convinced of that either. I’ll let you know if I come to any conclusions.

World Autism Awareness Day
At my house every day is Autism Awareness Day, but April 2nd has been declared World Autism Awareness Day by the United Nations. If you have a minute, check out the WAAD site here and here.
I know everyone thinks I have fallen from the face of the Earth but I have not. I have been so very busy. For the last two weeks I have been at the Kindergarten Center helping the children make Easter hats for their Easter Parade. I have glued more grass, eggs and whatever else these precious children brought to put on their hats than you could imagine. The hats are sooooo cute. And each child is so very, very proud of their hat. Hopefully, after the parade tomorrow, I’ll have some pictures!
And yes, yes, yes, I have procrastinated.
I have birthday cards, thank you cards and taxes to do. It is a very sad situation. But I will persevere. I am going to get caught up and it will be soon. I promise. I have to. I will. You’ll see. OK, I know that’s a little dramatic but I have been feeling a little dramatic lately.
So, please come back soon. Don’t forget about me. I have a half finished birthday card and thank you card on my table that will be finished and posted soon.
Thank you so much to those that keep checking on me!

Penguins in Disguise

These are the penguins I told you about in the last post. We made the skunk last year and the bee this year. After the Christmas holidays my son’s class has a black and white unit. They learn about penguins, food thats black and white and the colors black and white and all sorts of other things. Last year wasn’t too bad when it came to decorating the skunk. My son really didn’t understand what I was doing. He was just excited to take it to school. But this year when he brought the bowling pin home, he told me he did not want to decorate it. He wanted it to be a bowling pin. So how did I get him to agree to the bee. Well, it wasn’t easy. Since my son was very little a lot of his speech has come from the cartoons he watches. He can watch a 30 minute cartoon and then act it out doing ALL of the characters and ALL of the lines. Just from watching it one time. I would just like to be able to remember where I put my glasses. And no they are not on my head…this time.
So using my quick thinking I decided that this bowling pin was going to be Austin, the Master of Disguise. For those of you that do not know Austin. He is one of The Backyardigans. And The Master of Disguise is one of my sons favorite Backyardigans episodes. So I proceeded to name disguises that I thought I could make and we decided on the bee. Why the bee? Well, we have a honeycomb on our roof and part of it fell on the ground. My son saw it the other day and decided he wanted to be a bee and make a honeycomb, too. So he was happy with the bee. Until it had to go to school but thats a whole other story.
Now I do want to point out that I used Stampin’ Up! supplies (card stock, ribbon and punches) on these lovely creatures. So as you can see Stampin’ Up! products are very versatile. They can be used for quite a few things!

What’s Up, Doc?

Are these great or what? I know it’s not a paper craft but it’s one of the many other things that I do. My husband and son pulled these up yesterday. And they were yummy, too. This is the first time we have planted carrots. So my son was really excited to see them after planting them what must seem to him a long time ago.
I know it’s been a few days since I posted. Just so you know I have not fallen off of the procrastination wagon. I have been busy working on a family project for my little guy’s class. The last two years we have had to make a penguin project. Our wonderful angel teacher sends home a "boring" penguin (bowling pin) and we as a family have to decorate him as we see fit. We finished our penguin today and I am going to take pictures of him in just a few minutes. My camera battery is dead again. Why me? I would ask myself that question but I already know the answer so no need.
So check back later for the pics of our penguins. I’m also making some Valentines Day cards and treats, so hopefully I’ll get them posted soon!
And don’t forget to check out the new Stampin’ Up! catalog! It’s got a lot of great new things!

Why Are Big Boy Birthdays So Hard?

My stepson is not a little boy anymore but he is still only eleven years old. So I find it hard transitioning from little kid to not so little kid cards. Anyway this is what I made for his birthday. But as you can tell it is not strictly Stampin’ Up! He liked it so I guess that’s all that counts. I got the inspiration from the October issue of Cards page 20. Thanks Lea Lawson.I know my choice of colors was a bit odd but the color scheme matched the chipboard and I just didn’t want the card to be dark. It was a birthday card!
Stamp Sets: Birthday Whimsy, Think Big (both retired)
Inks: Baja Breeze, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip
Papers: Baja Breeze, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White and Outlaw DSP (ret)
Accessories: Photo Corners Punch, copper brads (retired), cutter kit, paper piercing tool, sponges, Earth Elements Buttons, linen threads, large copper brads (unknown),Static Chipboard from Crate Paper and ribbon from Basic Grey Hang 10
I also made him a cake.

The skulls on the cake were traced from the skull in Just Jawing.
I just changed the eyes from hearts to circles.
Then I had to make a secondary cake for my little guy. He doesn’t do real well at birthday parties or anything thing that has a lot of people. He gets really upset when the birthday person blows out the candles. Not sure why but he does. It usually turns into a full blown meltdown so we have found a second cake or cupcake with a candle in it distracts him and no problem. So with all of the pieces and icing left I made this cake. Don’t laugh. It was just leftovers and gel writing tubes. I do not like those things. I guess you have to be a cake decorating expert to use them. Anyway my little guy was so excited he had his own cake.

I hope you found something interesting or just plain amusing in this post!

It’s Not Nice To Brag…
I know it’s not nice to brag. I know I shouldn’t do it but I’m so excited I can’t stand it!
It’s like Christmas all over again! Ok. Guess what I’m doing. Ok, don’t. You would never guess anyway. I am opening up…are you ready…16 new Glaze pens…13 new atyou Spica pens…the Best Value Complete Classic Shapes Nestabilities Dies AND a box of brand new Stampin’ Up! sneak peak stamp sets and DSPs. Am I excited or what? How did I get all of that you ask? Well I just asked my wonderful, generous, great, terrific, wonderful…I think I already said that, magnificent husband if I could have them. I just said, "Can I buy the Best Value Complete Classic Shapes Nestabilities Dies? They are on sale at Ellen Hutson, LLC because of end of year inventory reductions." And he said yes. Just like that. Like he knew what I was talking about. So I ran…really fast….to the computer and ordered them before he could ask what they were or change his mind. I just added the atyou Spica markers because they were on sale too. The Glaze pens came from my local Hobby Lobby. And the box of lovely Stampin’ Up! stamps, I got those because I HAD to. I just had to. They are new and nobody has them yet but demonstrators so I had to get them. OK. I just wanted them.
Alright, I’ll stop. I know I should have better self control than that but…but…I guess I’m just weak. Sorry. I’ll work on it.
I don’t have very many things that are not Stampin’ Up! but I just couldn’t resist the pull of the Nestabilities after getting my Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Die Cut machine and seeing so many wonderful cards made using them. So I caved in.
Since I just opened them, I don’t have anything made using them. Maybe I’ll use them to make those baby shower cards I need to make. No, I haven’t even started them yet and I need one Saturday and one Sunday. I better get busy. I can’t procrastinate. That would be against one of my resolutions. Also if I procrastinate I won’t get them done because I am going to have a tooth extracted Friday morning. Ooh, yuck. And I may feel like…yucky. One of my very back teeth cracked apart some years ago and I had to have a root canal and a crown. But the tooth was so small a crown never would stay. So after three crowns, I’m going to have it pulled and an implant put in. Hopefully that will be the end of my teeth problems but my dentist told me the one in front of it might end up with problems. All the rest of my teeth are great but I grind my teeth on that side. It’s all that trying to resist temptation that makes me grind my teeth.
Well, I won’t bore you anymore. I’ve got laundry, laundry, and more laundry to do and cards to make. Does anyone want to do laundry? No. OK.
Check back soon to see my baby shower cards. Thanks for stopping by!
In The Stars

Well, today was the first day back to school after the holidays. But this time things were a little different. My son did not want to go back. He usually will say "I not go back to school" but that’s it. But last night he cried and cried. He was so upset. I rocked him for a while and he finally relaxed and went to sleep but was up again a few hours later. He slept the rest of the night with me and woke up in a good mood. It seemed everything was fine. I dressed him and fed him and he even got to watch a little TV before the bus came. But when he got to the front door to go get on the bus, he froze. I thought all was going to be bad but then he saw the bus, started talking to himself and slowly started walking. I was relieved that a major meltdown was averted but I worried all day.
I really missed him today. I think the change in routine was hard on all of us. We had a really good time during the holidays. I got to play with him more than I have in the recent months.
Then when he came home, I found out that all that worrying was for naught. He had a great day! His teacher sent a note home telling us that he has been mainstreaming so well in his Pre-K class that he is going to start going to lunch with them. I say "Yea, I’m so excited your going to be eating with the big kids!" as I start to worry. But then that’s another story.
Sorry about the ramblings. I guess I just need someone to listen.
Here’s another card from my unposted stash.
This card looks pretty straight forward but for some reason I had a really hard time with it. Every block of paper and star was in every position imaginable on this card before I settled on this. I used one of the texture plates from the Sizzix Texture plate starter kit on the large block of green (Kiwi Kiss) but it’s hard to tell from this picture. I think it turned out OK in the end.
