Birthday Card Idea – Stampin’Up! Holiday Mini Catalog

This card idea came from page 10 of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog. Their Halloween card became my birthday card! And it was quick and easy, too.

Now about the discussion that came along with this card. My hubby thought it was a little boring for a 7 yr old. And he might be right. It was masculine enough but it didn’t seem to be very fun. But I told him it would have money in it and he was seven so it wouldn’t matter. And I needed right then. And it turns out I was right!

With that said, this is a great card. It can be used for any occasion from Halloween to birthdays.

Crazy For Cupcakes

My new In Colors have been staring at me, kind of like the money you could be saving from Geico. So I decided to give them a try. These three colors turned out to be great birthday colors. My little guy thought they were great. He said "For me, Momma? It’s soooo cute! Your a good girl." So that says it all.

Big Bold Cupcakes Invitation

This was a super quickie invitation. When you have mass invitations to do, it pays to keep them simple. Believe me, I know. I’ve tried to do more complicated cards and you end up having a nervous breakdown just trying to get them finished. Well, for those individuals that are not procrastinators, life may be different but I wouldn’t know anything about it. So "Keep it simple, Cyndi" is my motto. Yeah, right. Anybody buying any of this.

Anyway, this card was fun. I cut everything with my Big Shot Die Cut Machine except for the star and the base. The hardest thing was picking out the colors. Oh, yeah, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the "You’re Invited". That thing is too cool. I used to think it was too much trouble but once you get used to using it. It’s great. I’m a keep it in the box it came in kind of person, so I think that kind of slows me down on using it. So I’ve contemplated throwing the box out. Kind of thinking outside of the box. Ha ha ha. Why are you not laughing? That was funny…admit it. Ok maybe not.

I hope you like the invitation. Check back soon to see the birthday card that I haven’t made yet but must because his birthday is Thursday! I know I said I was going to stop procrastinating and I have on some things but I have a very long road in front of me to call it success. So please, bear with me through all of my behindness.

Big Day Card

This is the other back to school card I made. He is going to be 12. No more baby stuff. Ugh! So hard. You would think it would get easier since boy stuff is mostly what I make but it doesn’t. So this is what I came up with. He was pretty happy with it. So I called it good.

I used a lot of retired products on this card. I have to really. I’ve got retired stuff filling every nook and cranny in my craft room. I’m going to have to start selling some of my stamps or I’m going to have to move. A new order is coming in and I don’t even know where it will be residing yet. I may have to ask the neighbors to house me or my stuff.

Check back soon to see my new stuff.

I’ll let you know if I have to move!

Tart & Tangy Teacher Card

School started today. So yesterday as I was looking for card ideas I found a great card on page 92 by Brandi Parshley in the August 2009 Cards magazine. This is my interpretation of her card. Thanks for the idea Brandi.

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted any cards but summer has been crazy. We spent quite a bit of the summer traveling around Texas staying at our wonderful state parks. But as state parks are about camping, they don’t all have wifi. So I did good just to keep my specials updated.

Back for now we are rooted again. I have a few more cards to post so please check back soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Completely CASED Congratulations Card

Before I say anything about my card, I want to let everyone know I’m sad to say this card idea is NOT my own. It belongs to Stampin’ Up! Consultant Patricia Giesbrecht in Canada. I tried to find her website so I could send traffic her way but was unable to find it. If anyone knows what it is, if you send it my way, I’ll add it to this post.

I was in need of a special congratulations card a few weeks ago and I was flipping through the June Stampin’ Success (the great monthly magazine you receive when you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator) when I saw this card on page 13 and knew it was perfect. Also as the procrastinator that I am, but trying hard not to be, I did not have much time. I looked at the list of supplies and I had almost everything. So I said to myself this is perfect.

I can take no credit for anything on this card except for the fact that I assembled it. Now for all of you that are going to look at their June Stampin’ Success, my card may not look quite as good as hers but I thought it came out pretty good. Now for the photography, not even close. I used the same color papers she did but I could not get them to look right in the photo. My camera was acting up badly that day. I thought it was broken but it turned out some setting was wrong. I wonder how that happened? Thank goodness it wasn’t broken. I really didn’t want to get a new camera right now. There are so many other things I can think of that I want.

In Color Birthday Cupcake

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope everyone’s morning is as beautiful as mine is. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. I’m drinking a cup a coffee and the house is quiet. Everyone’s still asleep. It’s way too QUIET. I think it’s time for them to get up. Well maybe not just yet.

OK to the point! I made this birthday card from the retiring In Colors. The inspiration came from page 40 of the Spring-Summer Idea book. I love Stampin’ Up! Idea Books. They are always there to get me started when I have no ideas of my own. OK so that’s most of the time. But I do try.

I did use a lot of different things to make this card but it was fun and still easy. And so no one is confused like I am today. The cupcake is not Stampin’ Up!. The Big Bold Birthday cupcake from the stamp set on page 40 was not quite big enough so I opted for a different cupcake. By the way, if you have been looking at that set, you only have until the end of June to purchase it. It is on the retiring list along with this years In Colors.

To make the "6", I traced a chipboard 6 on Pacific Point card stock and cut it out. I tried covering the chipboard 6 with the glitter pen I used for the spots on the cupcake and then covering it with clear embossing powder. It turned out really sparkly and so NOT the right color so I had to back up and punt. That happens to me a lot!

Have a great day!

The Day After

I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to make my post last night. Too much Valentine’s Day fun. So I’m going to post them now. One will be in a seperate post because I made it using a challenge I saw. That way it will be easy to find. Now for the first two..and these will be the only Valentines you see from me. I am going to try to move forward…just move on! And just so you will know this is not all my fault. There was some procrastination on my part BUT since I have snoopy people checking my blog to see what their cards are going to look like (I wish everyone was so snoopy!) I had to wait.

I could never get comfortable with this card. It felt like it was missing something but I ran out of time so I had to go with it.

Stamps: Boatloads of Love

Inks: Basic Black, Pacific Point

Papers: Riding Hood Red, Pacific Point, Whisper White card stock

Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Real Red brads, Nestabilities, Stampin’ Dimensionals, blender pen, Spica glitter pen

And this card gave me fits like you wouldn’t believe. I knew what I wanted it to look like but it just wouldn’t go there. This was the last card I had to make and I worked on it up to the last minute. Literally.

Oh, by the way this card was made out scraps except the card base. I had so many of those heart squares from the valentine’s for the kids, I just had to make something with them.

Don’t forget to check out the next post for my last Valentine’s Day card

Thanks for stopping by!

In The Stars

Well, today was the first day back to school after the holidays. But this time things were a little different. My son did not want to go back. He usually will say "I not go back to school"  but that’s it. But last night he cried and cried. He was so upset. I rocked him for a while and he finally relaxed and went to sleep but was up again a few hours later. He slept the rest of the night with me and woke up in a good mood. It seemed everything was fine. I dressed him and fed him and he even got to watch a little TV before the bus came. But when he got to the front door to go get on the bus, he froze. I thought all was going to be bad but then he saw the bus, started talking to himself and slowly started walking. I was relieved that a major meltdown was averted but I worried all day.

I really missed him today. I think the change in routine was hard on all of us. We had a really good time during the holidays. I got to play with him more than I have in the recent months.

Then when he came home, I found out that all that worrying was for naught. He had a great day! His teacher sent a note home telling us that he has been mainstreaming so well in his Pre-K class that he is going to start going to lunch with them. I say "Yea, I’m so excited your going to be eating with the big kids!" as I start to worry. But then that’s another story.

Sorry about the ramblings. I guess I just need someone to listen.

Here’s another card from my unposted stash.

This card looks pretty straight forward but for some reason I had a really hard time with it. Every block of paper and star was in every position imaginable on this card before I settled on this. I used one of the texture plates from the Sizzix Texture plate starter kit on the large block of green (Kiwi Kiss) but it’s hard to tell from this picture. I think it turned out OK in the end.

Thanks for stopping by!

Zoofari

I am a determined individual. I’m still sticking to my resolutions. Yes, I am. I am posting another card from the recent past that just never got posted. But that’s all different now! Yes it is! Do I sound pumped or what?

OK OK Enough goofing around! Let’s get down to business.

This card was CASE’D from a Christmas card that Beate Johns made. You can see her card at beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2008/10/24/chaos-in-the-johns-house/

I needed a card for a child but I REALLY liked her card so I decided to give it a try. I think it adapted well.

And I basically just followed her directions. They were really good directions, too.
