From The Toy Box

The idea for this card came from page 79 of the Spring-Summer 2008 Catalog. Yes, that catalog was current when I made this card. Hey, I’m catching up. I’ve posted every day since the 1st. Now I’m not sure how long I can keep this up. Did I say that out loud? What I meant to say was I don’t know how many cards I have left to post. I’ll have to make some new ones. As a matter of fact, I do need to make some new ones. I have two baby showers to go to this weekend. I think I better get busy.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year! 2009
I hope everyone had a great and safe New Year’s Eve!
I know today is full of all kind of resolutions that people make and don’t keep. I have never been one to make a list but I always think of something I’m going to try to do better. And that’s it. That’s as far as it goes. But this year I am really going to try to do two things. And I hope those two things will make every part of my life better.
1. Get Organized!
2. Stop Procrastinating!
I think if I can do these two things everything else should fall into place. Right. Right? Tell me yes. Please! Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to get crazy on you but I need some support here. So one of the first things I’m going to do is show you all of the cards that I have made and taken pictures of but haven’t posted because I was trying be seasonal or catch up on all the things that I have put off or SOMETHING. And I am going to do it right now BEFORE I go and finsh everything else I have going right now.

This is the anniversary card I made for my husband in 2008. I thought it turned out rather nicely. I got the inspiration for this card from a Stampin’ Success magazine (one of the perks of being a demonstrator) and the Fall-Winter catalog page 85. It went together quickly because I used a Simply Scrappin’ Kit. Those things are great when you need quick. Although that is not going to be me anymore.
Organized and On Time.
That’s me now! Organized could be my middle name.
OK. I’ll quit.
I hope you have a wonderful 2009. I plan to. Check back soon. Even if it’s just to check on me to see if I’m keeping my resolutions. Thank you to all of you that have stopped by my blog in 2008. It’s been exciting to see how many people take a look. It’s almost been a year. I look forward to 2009 bringing more blogging fun!

Carousel Notes Will Be Returning In New Colors!

Even though you won’t be able to get the Carousel Notes in Groovy Guava any more, the word from 08 Stampin’ Up! Convention is that the Carousel Notes will be returning in brand new colors…Ruby Red, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze! Yeah!
This is one of the girly birthday cards I promised. And as usual I was just getting around to using things that are retired. But Lo and Behold, it didn’t turn out so bad this time.
I cut a circle out of the Afternoon Tea Designer paper using the Coluzzle circle template, then I roughed up the edges using the cutter kit and lightly inked the edge with chocolate chip ink. I attached the circle to the carousel note and sewed three wobbly circles around it with white thread. Then I inked the edges of the carousel note with chocolate chip ink. I attached a torn piece of chocolate chip card stock to the left side and sewed it to the card. Then I stacked the flowers and attached them using a rhinestone brad. I inked the edges of the card stock flowers – I used Soft Sky ink on the Groovy Guava card stock and Chocolate Chip ink on the Soft Sky card stock. I stamped, punched and attached the celebrate label (I inked the label with Soft Sky ink) , then I added the small flower with a silver brad. Then finally I stamped the butterfly with Groovy Guava on Whisper White card stock and cut it out. I inked the edges of the butterfly with Soft Sky, too. I glued the clear micro beads from the Pink Duo in the middle. After the glue dried I attached it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I made the antenae out of silver wire and attached them with a mini glue dot. After everything was complete I attached a Soft Sky Carousel to the back to cover up the brads and threads on the back side.
I hope you like!
I haven’t made the other girly birtthday card I have to make yet…OK BELATED birthday card! I have been so busy trying to catch up from being on vacation for a week!
In addition, I have been extremely busy trying to decide which Sizzix Big Shot package I was going to buy. The one WITH the doctor’s bag or the one WITHOUT. And which dies I wanted to go with it and so on. Naturally I decided on the one WITH the bag. I really, really needed it! Hopefully it will be here in time for my Open House/Pick Up Your New Catalog event on Saturday! I’m going to keep my fingers crossed.

Ahoy, Matey! Pirates Have Birthdays, Too
I had fun making this card. I used some stuff that hasn’t been used in awhile. One of the first Stampin’ Up! products I bought was the Watercolor Pencils. My upline showed them at a workshop and I thought they were the coolest thing. I’ve used them a lot just not lately. All of the color on the card is watercolor pencils. The first thing I did was roll out the map with the Matey’s Map wheel in basic black ink, then I picked the part of it I wanted to be on the card and trimmed it. I colored it with the pencils and I used a blender pen to soften the color. I distressed 3 of the edges. The left edge is smooth. I placed it on the card, sewed the left edge and put the linen thread on the other edges using the paper piercer to make the holes.
Next, I stamped the ship in basic black ink and colored it using the same technique as the map. I distressed the edges and attached it to the really rust card stock. Those edges are distressed, too. I attached it to the card and put the brads on the right edge.
Then I stamped the Ahoy, Matey and the X with Versa Mark and embossed it with gold embossing powder. When your embossing, don’t forget to use your embossing buddy BEFORE you stamp your image. It keeps all of the extra unwanted powder from sticking. It’s amazing!
And thar ya have it!
OK not funny!
Anyway, even though the card seems a bit involved, it really was easy. Believe me, I made this one AFTER the Prehistoric Pals card. So I was in a hurry. And it didn’t take long.
Now the girlie cards are in the works. I only have a few days to make them. I am going on vacation Tuesday and I have to take them with me so I have to finish them AND take pictures of them before I go.
Thanks so much! More later!

Prehistoric Pals

You will have to forgive my photography. My card wasn’t really crooked. I was in such a hurry after I finished this card that I almost forgot to take a picture of it. Since I am the procrastinator of the year, I ran out of time to come up with my own idea so I turned to my trusty catalog. The idea for this card came from page 71 of the Spring-Summer 2008 catalog. This stamp set won’t be retiring either so you can still get it when the new catalog comes out. Yeah! This is one of the stamps sets I want to use for scrapbooking. I hope you like it!

Happy 4th of July!!!
I hope everyone has a great July 4th planned. I know of some people that have had great struggles recently and I pray this is a time that maybe they can relax for a bit.
I made this card from some scraps I had left from a July 4th card a few years back. Yes, recycling again. I am trying to clean out scraps but I am also trying to awaken the creative creature inside. Hello, hello, anybody there? OK not awake yet. Well, I’ll keep trying.

Get Your Groovy Guava Before It’s Gone
Well it won’t be long and the Stampin’ Up! In Color line for this year will be gone. You have until August to stock up. I made this card using Groovy Guava. As it turns out this was one of my favorites from this years line. This card was so simple. And simple is good. I CASE’d the card from page 144 of the Stampin’ Up! Spring-Summer 2008 catalog. If you haven’t noticed yet, I really use my catalog a lot for inspiration. As for the retired sets, I just can’t help it. I bought them because I liked them and just because they are retired doesn’t mean I don’t like them.
For the scallops, I punched out circles and lined them up. This way I was able to make them fit exactly like I wanted. I’m not sure where the bee came from but it just seemed to go. So I used it. I hope you like it.

Father’s Day

It’s seems I’m behind again. I’ve been so busy getting nothing accomplished. Well not really but it seems that way. But I just could not let Father’s Day pass without posting all of the great card’s from Father’s Day.
The first card is from a last minute workshop that I had before Father’s Day. So it had to be simple. I picked the colors from the card made with this stamp set in the Spring-Summer catalog. And the card idea came from the Peaceful Wishes card on page 36 of the same catalog.
Stamps Sets: Dad’s Day
Inks: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip
Papers: Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Whisper White
Accessories: Soft Subltes Buttons, Vintage brads, 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Designer Label Punch, linen thread and Stampin’ Dimensionals
I made this card for my husband. One night I was surfing the web and came across the website of an extremely talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and saw a card I just fell in love with. So I had to CASE it and this is what I came up with. You can check out her website at stampinat6213.blogspot.com I distressed the edges of all the papers with the cutter kit except the card base. Then I inked the edges with a sponge using chocolate chip, really rust and creamy caramel inks. I used the same colors on the twill tape. On the sage shadow stars I added sage shadow ink to the mix. The stars were attached using Stampin’ dimensionals.

This card was made for my husband by our 4 year old Brandon. He used Stampin’ Up! card stock but refused to use anything else. He was very determined to use the foam die-cuts so he could use the glue stick. The glue stick and scissors are his tools of choice. He was so proud of his card that it was hard for him to wait until Father’s Day to give it to Dad.
The next card was done for Dad by our 10 year old, Chase. I gave him stamps and paper and this is what he made. He doesn’t stamp a lot but I guess pays more attention to what I’m doing than I thought. If you notice the card base has been sponged with white craft ink.

And this is a picture of my husband and boys on Father’s Day after our pancake breakfast. Our plan was to take pictures during breakfast but everyone was so excited about eating pancakes ( I don’t hardly ever make them) that we forgot. So we took this one afterwards. And if you can’t tell my husband HATES to have his picture taken. And when he finds out this picture is on my blog….ooooh is he gonna be mad!
UPDATED August 1,2008 As you see there is no longer a picture of my husband and boys. For some crazy reason my husband was looking at my blog today and saw that his picture was still here. He said he thought is was only going to be there temporarily and asked me to remove it. So I did.
Happy New Baby Card
If you need a new baby card quick, this is it. I made this card with one of the stamps from Stampin’ Up!’s "Greetings Galore". This set comes in the Demonstrator’s Starter Kit. Every stamp in the set could be used on this card. If your in a hurry this is one of the simplest cards you can make. I made this card right after I got my starter kit a few years ago and if I could do it then, ANYBODY can do it. You will have to change out the ribbon because the organdy ribbon has been retired but I think the Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon would look great!
Stamp Sets: Greetings Galore
Inks: Basic Black, Ballet Blue, Creamy Carmel
Paper: Ballet Blue, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy and Very Vanilla card stock
Accessories: Blender Pen, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, linen thread, 1/16" hole punch, organdy ribbon (retired)
Recycling Card Projects

The inspiration for this card came from two different places. The first place was out of a folder I have with paper already cut for cards that were made at workshops from a LONG time ago. And I just could not bring myself to do them again. They just seemed so dated. And if you look on page 49 of the Stampin’ Up! Spring-Summer Collection 2008, you will see the second place. So I took the paper that was already cut and told myself that was all I had to work with. So this is what I got. BUT I did have to use more paper to punch out the tab. I was almost successful in using just what I had. The original card was an autumn card but I think the colors are OK for an anytime card. I’ll be trying to recycle more projects later. Next time I’ll put in the before and after.
