Happy Valentine’s Day
OK! Get ready! Set! Go!
I have so many things to do this morning but I said I was going to post these pictures. So I am! I’ll update with all the supplies later! And the Valentine’s cards…well I can’t post them yet. Everybody is starting to look and see if they can see their card on my blog before I give it to them. So that will have to wait until this evening. After we have our Valentine’s Dinner.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Penguins in Disguise

These are the penguins I told you about in the last post. We made the skunk last year and the bee this year. After the Christmas holidays my son’s class has a black and white unit. They learn about penguins, food thats black and white and the colors black and white and all sorts of other things. Last year wasn’t too bad when it came to decorating the skunk. My son really didn’t understand what I was doing. He was just excited to take it to school. But this year when he brought the bowling pin home, he told me he did not want to decorate it. He wanted it to be a bowling pin. So how did I get him to agree to the bee. Well, it wasn’t easy. Since my son was very little a lot of his speech has come from the cartoons he watches. He can watch a 30 minute cartoon and then act it out doing ALL of the characters and ALL of the lines. Just from watching it one time. I would just like to be able to remember where I put my glasses. And no they are not on my head…this time.
So using my quick thinking I decided that this bowling pin was going to be Austin, the Master of Disguise. For those of you that do not know Austin. He is one of The Backyardigans. And The Master of Disguise is one of my sons favorite Backyardigans episodes. So I proceeded to name disguises that I thought I could make and we decided on the bee. Why the bee? Well, we have a honeycomb on our roof and part of it fell on the ground. My son saw it the other day and decided he wanted to be a bee and make a honeycomb, too. So he was happy with the bee. Until it had to go to school but thats a whole other story.
Now I do want to point out that I used Stampin’ Up! supplies (card stock, ribbon and punches) on these lovely creatures. So as you can see Stampin’ Up! products are very versatile. They can be used for quite a few things!

School Days Are Here Again!
Today was the first day of school here in our neck of the woods. And let me tell you, it was a day for me. It’s a long story but I’ll try to keep it short. My youngest son started school when he was 3 1/2 yrs old. Which was in May of 2007. I was devasted that he needed to do that. I had left my job when he was born to stay at home to care for him and then at 3 1/2 the doctors tell me early intervention is the key. My son has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS. He has a mild form of autism. So with all my fears I meet his new teacher and two teachers aides and find these three people are the most amazing people. I liken them to my angels. I am so very thankful that they are teaching my son. So at the end of the year last year they tell me they want him to start Pre-K. They think he is ready to try. So all summer I work on preparing myself for this new part of the journey. And so I enter into the Pre-K orientation today prepared to handle this like an adult and end up crying like a big ole baby. Did I embarrass myself or what! Oh by the way my son was very happy and excited to go back to school today. Yes he was up at 4:30am this morning talking to me. It seems that I was the only one with issues. And for the record I do like his Pre-K teacher and teacher’s aide. He still goes to his other class in the afternoon so I think all is well. But it took until 10:00pm for me to decide this. AND now he wants to ride the bus!!!
So with all that said, I try to make a little something for the teachers throughout the year. So I decided to alter some notebooks for them (all 5 of them) to start the year off. I made all of them using the Simply Scrappin’ Kit Primary Colors. Yes, it’s retired. I know. I know. If you haven’t noticed the pattern, I have a hard time letting go. And of course I used my new Big Shot. Yes, I love that thing. I made them all different but the next one was CASE’d from a card on the front cover of the Cards magazine Aug 2007.

If you notice, I didn’t do any stamping on any of the notebooks, so this project turned out to be really quick and easy. Well if you set aside the time that my brain was burning and hurting trying to come up with an idea. I made all of these with just one kit and a few extra embellishments (brads, buttons, ribbon, kite string and metal tags). And I have a whole lot of the kit left.
Well it’s starting to get late and I need to go dream about my son riding the bus! I hope that everyone’s day ended as good as mine. My son was happy when I put him in the bed!
Thanks for listening.
And if anyone wants to leave any comments with ideas for the next round of teachers gifts, I’d be thankful. It looks like Halloween will be up!
Good Night!
