Zebra Purse Birthday Invitations

These cute zebra purses were invitations for a little girl's birthday party. She had requested animal print. Unfortunately, Stampin' Up! did not have any animal print paper or feathers.
So what to do? Well, I had to go to the local craft store for those items. But all of the other products are Stampin' Up!

The purse idea is from page 111 of the 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! catalog and the pattern came from my Stampin' Up! demonstrator website. I had to tweak the size of the pattern a bit but it turned out to be the perfect size.
You know, if you have ever considered becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, the demonstrator website is one of the fantastic perks you get. I use it ALL of the time! And right now, if you join Stampin' Up! in June you will receive 8 new 2011-2012 Catalogs and 4 current 2010-2011 catalogs instead of 4 new and 4 current catalogs with your Starter Kit. This added benefit will help you get a head start into the new Stampin' Up! year.

In order to make the purses sturdy enough to hold a few items other than the card, I glued the zebra paper to a sheet of Confetti White card stock before I cut out the pattern. Then I scored the fold lines and folded. I rolled the top flap with a pencil a little bit so it would be rounded and fold over.
Because the paper was so stiff after gluing the two sheets together, when I attached the Regal Rose scalloped circle to the purse, in addition to gluing it I punched 3 holes in it(two at the top and 1 at the bottom) and laced the silver cord through the scalloped circle AND the flap so the scalloped circle would be secure and not pop off when I closed the flap!
Note: The silver cord goes through the scalloped circle and the flap at the top but only goes through the scalloped circle at the bottom.

I Can’t Believe It’s That Time Again….
I truly can't believe it's that time again…the end of another Stampin' Up! year. Or maybe I should say the beginning of a new Stampin' Up! year! Either way, I know changes are coming our way! And as always I know they are going to be exciting.
Life has been crazy around my house. I have, as usual, not been able to get all of the things done that I had hoped. And as usual, I've been doing a lot of things that I never thought I would be doing. Like what? you ask. Well….

Yes, that is correct. CHICKENS.
I'm not sure I believe it either. But around here, it's always something.
Anyway, back to the point. To check out all of the discontinuing stamp sets and accessories, click on the Say Goodbye to the 2010-2011 Catalog button at the right. It will take you to my Stampin' Up! website. And don't forget these discontinuing products are only available while supplies last.

Big Shot Easter Treats
Hello Everyone!
I thought I would get a head start on Easter for next year so I made these cute little carrot boxes. OK, so you know that's a big, fat lie. I know you know that I am just now getting around to posting these from THIS Easter. But getting a head start on something for next year just sounded soooooo good. Why, oh, why can't I get ahead of the game? Please don't answer that. I don't think the answer would make me feel any better!
Now about these carrot boxes. I LOVE them! I have to say these were the easiest things to make. A little time consuming folding the tops but that's because I had to make 22 of them. Other than that they went together in a snap.
.png)
When I decided to make the carrot boxes, I looked around on the internet at a lot of different tops but I couldn't decide which ones I liked best so I took a little from a bunch of different ideas and came up with these. I was very pleased with the end result.
.png)
The kids liked them too. I got lots of hugs.
.png)
But a word of warning! Be sure to check the size of the candy you will be putting in the carrot. I got the cutest little chocolate bunnies to go inside but they were just a little too tall and the top would not lay flat. And that threw the whole thing out of whack! So I had to go back to the store.
.png)
When I started to assemble the boxes, I wasn't sure what type of adhesive to use. In the past, when I've made other boxes, they have come apart if the adhesive wasn't strong enough. So I was concerned. But I was able to use the SNAIL adhesive with no problems except on the one that was embossed. I had to use the multipurpose liquid glue because the surface of the flap wasn't smooth enough to get good contact. I was glad because it would have taken a lot longer to assemble all of them.
To attach the carrot top:
1. Punch a hole in two opposing flaps
2. Thread ribbon through both holes and pull snugly
3. Pull both end through jumbo eyelet set in center of scallop circle
4. Take 2nd piece of ribbon and lay in between the two pieces pulled through center
5. Then tie the two pieces pulled through the center together over the 2nd piece (just once)
6. Then trim the ends to the length you want
That's it.
Now the top is not really tied onto the carrot box. I did not want the kids to have to struggle with it. If you pulled really hard the top would come off. You may want to actually tie a knot if you want it to be more secure but these little guys are only seven.
The ribbon pieces I used were 12" long. Next time I will make them shorter, may be 10" or 11". I trimmed more than I would have liked. But since it was retired I didn't feel quite as bad about it.
.png)
In the supply list you'll notice a lot of retired items. But for every retired item, there is a new Stampin' Up! item you can replace it with. So not to worry you. I had a lot of Only Orange and Green Galore card stock left so I thought this would be the perfect project to use it up.
Stampin' Up! colors always coordinate so well with each other. If you look closely at the carrot top in the picture above you can see that I used Wild Wasabi card stock with the retired Green Galore ribbon and still got great results.
All in all, this has been one of my favorite projects. It was simple, easy and in my opinion turned out really good!

Simply Adorned for Teacher
Hello!
I bet you didn't think I'd be back so soon. But I'm on a mission. I want to get all of my Christmas posts done before Christmas. But right now I'm not sure I will.
I thought I was done with my Christmas preparations but earlier today my husband told me about some additional things I needed to wrap so now I need to get pictures of those before tomorrow afternoon. Yikes!
OK. About the Simply Adored Line. I love it!
I wasn't sure about it at first but I decided to check it out. And then after I got it I still wasn't sure about trying to make something that small. You know I have old eyes. But once I got started, I didn't want to stop.
After I bought one for myself, I decided it would make a great Christmas gift for my son's wonderful teacher. I made the inserts below so she would have a variety.
The inserts fit into the 1" X 1 1/4" charm.

More close ups…I'm on a roll.

Sparkly stuff…Smooch Spritz!

1st Grade is Wild about Learning…:0

One of my new favorite colors…Cajun Craze.

More sparkly stuff…I think this might be my favorite insert.

And then I wrapped it all up.

Christmas Cards
Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is ready for Christmas because if your not your almost out of time. That sounds pretty funny coming from me, huh. But I'm actually pretty much ready. We are going to bake some Gingerbread cookies for Santa today and that's about it. My Little Guy says Santa likes Gingerbread cookies. I thought he liked chocolate chip cookies but it appears I was wrong. My Little Guy is so excited. He asks me every day if it's going to snow on Christmas. I feel bad that I have to tell him no. Then he wants to know why. It's hard for him to understand that snow is not a part of Christmas every year here in Texas. He sees the snow on TV, in the movies, in the books, it's everywhere but here.
I know all of you with all of the snow are saying Are you crazy?! right about now. But we just want a little bit not a lot.
Anyway, since it's almost Christmas, I'm going to post all of the Christmas things I've done. I kept everything simple this year and I think that helped me out a lot. Also, I used up all of the pieces from Christmas' past that I had stored. And Oh My! the stuff I have stored.
I found the pieces for the first card in a folder from several years back. They were pre-cut and ready to go. Perfect! But I wasn't going to make the same card I had made previously…uh…for several reasons…like I didn't want to send out the same card as before BUT more importantly…you mean I made THAT and sent it out. Oh, MY!
So this is what it became. I know you want to see the card from before but I just can't bring myself to put it on the web..you know that stuff never goes away. It's there forever. So, I just prefer to keep it in a box in the dark.

Now the next two cards, same thing, pieces were pre-cut and ready to go. I'm liking this. But this card design was good like it was. It was a Stampin' Up! design. So I just changed the image. The Big On Christmas set has three different images so I just used the two I didn't use before. This is just was way too easy. Yeah!
But I did add some dimension to the cards this time around. I ran the card bases through my Big Shot and I layered the ornament and tree images. You can see the layering in the close up pictures.

And finally, I made this card a few years back but I had no pieces left.
When I originally made it, I used Chocolate Chip but I ran out of the ribbon. So I changed the paper and ribbon to Early Espresso and it worked out just fine. I also ran this base through my Big Shot to give it more dimension.

So these are the Christmas cards I made for this year.
You'll notice that some of the products I used are retired but with Stampin' Up! there is ALWAYS something that you can replace it with. That is only one of the great things I love about Stampin' Up!
If you have any questions, please give me a call.
Also if you call about something I have made in the past just tell me you saw it on my blog. Recently someone called about a card I posted a long time ago, they referred to it by the title of the post. But at the time it did not ring a bell, when I told them I wasn't sure what they were talking about they hung up. Then they called back and when they heard my voice, thinking they still had the wrong number, they hung up again. Then it dawned on me that it might be one of my cards. So I looked it up and sure enough it was. But they never called back.
So if you have questions of something older than say yesterday
, give me a minute to clear the tinsel from my brain and I'll be glad to help.
I have to go for now…breakfast, cookies and kids are calling. I thought I would get all of my Christmas things in this post but I still have the Simply Adorned inserts to post. So check back soon to see!

Quick Christmas Gift Wrapping
Hello, Everyone!
Here are a few quick gift wrapping ideas from the Master Procrastinator. Uh, can you say that three times really fast?
In my life you know quick is a necessity. And these really were quick.
I saw a present in an older Holiday Mini catalog with this tag on it and thought it would be perfect. But as I started assembling it, I found out the piece of ribbon I had was way too short to tie a big bow, soooooooooo I had to improvise.
Instead of a bow, I tied a knot but that left a big blank space on the tag that needed to be filled. I'd really been wanting to make a rose using my new Table Setting die, but I hadn't gotten around to it so I thought I'd give it a try.
Well, now that I have made one, let me warn you, you will see more. It might be my new favorite die.

Supplies: Winter Post stamp set, Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red & Very Vanilla card stock, Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla Striped Ribbon, Linen Thread, Riding Hood Red & Crumb Cake Classic ink, punch (ret), gold glitter, Stampin' Dimensional, Multipurpose Liquid glue, Big Shot die cut machine, Table Setting die cut
.png)
To get the glitter on the snowflake, I took the Multipurpose glue and quickly went over the snowflake. Next I dumped the glitter on it, shook the excess off and let it dry for a minute. It was that quick too. I love the Multipurpose glue. I've just started using it and it's amazing.

Notably Ornate Anniversary Card

Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all getting your Christmas shopping and planning done. I know I'm trying!
I made this card for my wonderful husband. I've been wanting to do some vintage style cards, so I thought I'd give it a try with an anniversary card. I also made a matching envelope. I don't know why but I have great difficulty making coordinating envelopes. You would think it would be easy. But I always feel it's either too little or too much. But I think this one came out alright.
Below are some different views of the card. I've been practicing on the close-ups. I think I do better with those than the pictures of the whole card. Not sure why but seems so. Anyway, in the close-ups you can see the layers and textures of the card.

I really like how this card turned out so I thought I would try another vintage card. The next one I made was for my husband's birthday. I guess you could say he's my guinea pig.
Check back soon to see it!

Family Accessories Birthday

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving holidays. I know I have been.
I, also, know this time of the year is very busy so if you are in need of a quick birthday card this one is perfect. It can be changed up for a girl, too.
This card was CASE'd from the card on page 91 of the Stampin' Up! catalog. I changed up the dimensions to fit the envelopes I had on hand. So my final card was 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
To get the background image on the blue and green card stock I used a retired background stamp set so it's not listed below. But any stamp set can be used to make background images. Just find one you like and stamp the images in the same color as your card stock to make your background. If you want the image lighter just stamp it off until you get the intensity that you want. To stamp off, just ink your stamp then lightly stamp it one or more times on a scrap piece of paper before you stamp your image on the card stock.
This technique allows you to get many shades from a single stamp pad.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.
The supplies are listed below.
